I can't hide it, Seville it is one of the cities that most impressed me and it touched my heart. Maybe that trip I did in a particular period of my life, maybe that I went there in January and it was 18 ° C and the oranges in the plants in the square, maybe that I went there with an exceptional friend or that I found another friend there. I don't know why but Seville is one of my favorite cities ever and now I recommend 10 things that I think you absolutely must not miss once you arrive in the city.
1. Real Alcázar. Whatever happens on your holiday in Seville, don't miss this stop. The fortress was probably built in the 700th on the ruins of Roman encampments Seville was one of the favorite residences of the Spanish kings who lived for some time in the Alcázar. Accessing it means entering 20 at a time every 30/7,50 minutes, but it will be worth it, entrance cost € XNUMX.
2. Parque de maria luisa. Designed in 1929, therefore quite recently, for a Fair of the Americas, they are among the most extraordinary public spaces in all of Spain with its tree-lined paths and ornamental pools. Taking a nice walk here will take you to Plaza de España in a flash.
3. Plaza of Spain. The central part of the Fair of the Americas (which we have read about above), was used until 1781 as a square to burn witches and heretics. Glazed tiles, bright colors, bridges and streams are enchanting here, a must see.
4. Barrio la Macarena. Go aimlessly around the Barrio la Macarena in Seville. Once known for the poverty that reigned here, it was for a long time underestimated until it became "fashionable". Go and explore it, you won't regret it.
5. Cathedral of Santa Maria della Sede. Seville is home to the largest Gothic cathedral in the world and the third largest Christian church after St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. This alone would be enough to invite you to visit it. The cathedral is open every day and you can admire the interior of the church, the various chapels, the tomb of Christopher Columbus. According to experts, the tomb is actually half in Seville and half in Santo Domingo.
6. Eat Tapas in Taberna les Coloniales. Very popular with locals, this taberna is a must to try at least one evening in Seville. You eat well and in a party atmosphere at very low prices. The advice is to drink a beer outside the restaurant while waiting for your table to become free.
7. True Flamenco show. It is not easy to find a flamenco show, not for tourists in Seville. Look well, especially inquire with the locals once you arrive in Seville. Don't trust organized tours but throw yourself into the most disparate places to get to know the true soul of Spain.
8. Museum of Fine Arts. One of the most important fine arts museums in Spain, second only to the Prado, is housed in the Convento de la Merced. An art market is held on Sunday mornings in the square in front of the museum. Admission is € 1.50 and is free for those with an EU passport.
9. Torre de Oro and Guadalquivir. Stop to admire the Torre de Oro, built in 1220 as part of the Alcázar fortification, if you want to enter you will find the naval museum inside. To admire it from the river, take a trip with the sightseeing cruises that depart every 30 minutes for € 16 or with the rented pedal boat.
10. Go up to the Giralda. The most beautiful monument in Seville, in my opinion and not only, climbing the Giralda and its 96 meters is a show with an adventure over for the panorama that you will see in front of you. La Giralda takes its name from the flag, giraldillo, positioned at its top in the 12th century. The Moorish structure was completed in XNUMX years.
