Seven Vegetarians and then you will not be able to honor the "jamon"?
Are you hyperventilating due to the massive presence of meat on Spanish menus?
Don't worry, there is always a solution!
More and more in fact, we hear about vegetarian restaurants in the city and even some vegans (no milk, no eggs).
I too, having decided for a few months now not to eat meat (I still have difficulties for fish ..), I am always looking for new restaurants to try and that convince me. Most are pro-Nepalese / Indian or otherwise oriental and the most difficult thing is to find someone who has a more Mediterranean orientation. I must say that most of the time I don't agree with the decoration of this type of restaurant .. always so hippie ... colorful, in full mood let's have a trip together.
The patrons you will meet are almost always foreigners… because the vegetarian / vegan option is welcomed with little enthusiasm from the Spanish majority. Generally, when they discover that you don't eat meat they always ask the same question: But don't you eat ham either? Why of course the ham is not made with animal meat….
Here is a small list of my favorites:
Juicy Jones: Vegan and which also offers very good fruit juices and smoothies (with soy milk of course !!). The dishes recall the Nepalese tradition. The place is colorful and welcoming even if over the years it has lost “that extra touch” it had at the beginning, tending to be a bit chilly. The waiters are almost always foreigners (American and the like) so you will always find someone who speak English.
Have menu of the day for 8,50 euros.

Organic: vegetarian and with ecological products. Here various and possible traditions are mixed and you can find curry and parmigiana. This is a buffet service with a good selection of salads. However, there are valid options for vegans.
Il menu costs 12 euros and includes: a soup, salads from the buffet (try the potatoes with pumpkin hummus), a second course, a dessert (the chocolate mousse is very good !!!) and an infusion (drinks not included). Welcoming and "familiar" environment. You will be welcomed by a couple of very picturesque and nice elderly gentlemen.
There is also the possibility to choose the "half menu": only salad or only second.

Biocenter: vegetarian with suggestions for vegans (always indicated in the menu). More expensive than the other two, but still a great option. The menu costs 14,95 euros and includes: a soup, salads from the buffet, a second course, a dessert (drinks not included). Cozy atmosphere: soft lights, small tables, friendly waiters.
Where: C / Pintor Fortuny, 25. Metro L3-verde Liceu
Teresa y Carles: vegetarian with few options for vegans (but there are). Very Mediterranean (finally !!! enough with turmeric !!!), a lot of variety in the menu and with a good presentation of the dishes. Real restaurant decoration (without colors, lights, butterflies & co), even very stylish. The only flaw for me is the service .. not exactly courteous.
The menu costs 9,50 euros and is open continuously from 14pm to midnight (Monday to Friday). On Sundays they also serve breakfasts and brunches for the most fashionable and not very early risers.
