Until the February 24 2013 the Centro de Cultura Contemporánea of Barcelona (CCCB) presents a beautiful exhibition entitled "El Paral • lel. 1894-1939". This exhibition explains how this road was born, and tells the story and decadence of its splendor through different media such as: photographs, costumes, sound documents, books, audiovisual materials.
La show, commissioned by stage manager Xavier Albertí and journalist Eduard Molner, aims to explain the birth of the most genuine Paralelo, the life that took place in this artery of the city, the vices and spectacles, creativity and debauchery.
One of the characteristics of this exhibition is the variety of its thematic spaces and the montage of the proposed material in a very original way. You will then find a room full of Photos of artists of the time with a dedication and another in which a comparison is made between what we can find today on the parallel and what was in the same place in 1930; a space with a pianola of those used in the Paral • lel theaters and the reconstruction of a theater hall.
The stories of actors and prostitutes are told, of how drugs became part of the "normality" of a certain class of people, of how Barcelona was an outpost of culture of the time. Interesting if you like to know the history of a city and want to see a different exhibition than usual.
