Eating gluten free in San Marino at Dogana, shortly after the confinement at the Ristorante dell'Angelo. The pizzas are excellent and also the desserts, a shame for the staff and the service who are a bit slow.
A little place that has excellent pizza around Rimini and is not far from the border, so a San Marino Customs, and the Dell'Angelo Restaurant. The restaurant is located a few kilometers from the border and the famous white bridge of San Marino which welcomes you to the Land of Freedom.
I had known the restaurant for about ten years even though I had only been there a few times to eat there. For some years now, however, he has also started making glute-free plates, recognized by theCeliac Association Italy, and that is why, having seen it in theGluten Free Roads App I wanted to try it.
The restaurant offers pizzas, first courses, main courses of both meat and fish, appetizers, desserts, bitters and coffee. In short, everything. I have always and only tried the pizza, also because I always liked her a lot and never wanted to change. My dinner companions have always had pizza too, so if I have to tell you what the first or second courses are like, I'm sorry but I can't. The pizza instead is excellent, thin and tasty and very rich above all. I got one Special Margherita, a daisy with salad and black olives above, delicious is an understatement. I managed to finish it but with difficulty, because it was bigger than the plate, then I couldn't eat anything else, except to taste the lemon sorbet and enjoy a coffee before going home.
La pizza is ten and praise, there is no doubt, but what is a bit lacking in the venue is the service Unfortunately.
We arrived at 20.30pm and the menus had yet to arrive at 21pm. We ordered at 21.30 and the dishes arrived at 22. An unacceptable time, especially if there were also children at the table who obviously ended up falling asleep in the sofa while waiting. Unfortunately the dishes had cooled when they woke up, also because it was very difficult to get them to stay up after they had fallen into a deep sleep. Despite everything, their dishes were also very good, you could see from how the children ate.
La slowness of those who manage and work in this place makes it quite difficult for me to make a totally positive opinion. Although the pizza is really good, if you are really nearby I recommend you take takeaway pizza. At least you can eat it at home in absolute freedom and you will not have to wait for someone to bring you water or wait for them to bring you the bill.
The venue is also large enough to host birthdays and ceremonies and part of the staff also speak Russian, not to be underestimated on the Riviera and San Marino due to the influx of tourism from Eastern Europe.
