Barcelona you know, it is full of Italians. We are many, from all regions and each of us arrived here with his particular motivation. There are many who have decided to reinvent themselves as restaurant managers and make the cuisine of the beautiful country known.
There are good and bad ones. Of true and mythical chains that do not exist even in the worst nightmares of the average Italian (see Noodle.. to be pronounced with the hard g). But restaurants run by Italians generally stand out for good service. That mixture of kindness and savoir faire that generally distinguishes us.
Yesterday in a moment like that I don't want to cook, we decided to try the "Bacaro" restaurant specializing in Venetian cuisine. "Bacaro"Is in fact a word that in the Venetian dialect defined the restaurant where you went to eat something genuine and typical. The idea of using it as the name of the restaurant is a clear homage to the culture of the region. Not only were all the dishes tasted good (gnocchi with mushrooms, chickpea cream with squid, sardines in saor, lemon cream with soft meringue), but the service was amazing. Yes so in capital letters. Because when it takes, it takes.
Before choosing the wine, they made them taste them all, without grimaces, without boredom. He waited for us to decide and explained where the bottles came from. The dishes arrived without waiting too long. They asked us if the advice they gave us really had hit the mark. When we finished our dinner, no one told us (yes this is the correct verb) to get up to leave the table for any new diners.
In short, it won't be cheap (for the elecante dishes above, some bread that almost seemed to be in Italy a bottle of water, two glasses of wine we spent 28 euro each), but I highly recommend going there and enjoying a dinner of the real ones.
