Flamenco and Seville: where to dance in Seville

One of the first commandments I learned soon after I arrived a Seville is: honor the party. Whether it's religious or not, there's always a good reason to pull out the wooden case, clap your hands and improvise a flamenco. There is nothing better than dancing, and here in this land they have dancing in their blood.

The best shows are improvised ones. Close your eyes and imagine yourself in a small bar in Triana sipping wine and eating tapas di jamón y queso, and suddenly someone takes the stage and starts singing a melancholy flamenco with a deep voice, and everyone clapping their hands and women dancing. This is the true Andalusian show.

And during the April Fair, along the sandy streets, right next to the houses, you can attend incredible shows: girls, boys and adults singing and dancing with unimaginable grace and harmony, enchanting sirens of pure beauty. Unfortunately, the Feria is only one week a year, so where do you go for the remaining days?

To dance Sevillian, to attend a free show of music and flamenco I recommend Ours, in Calle Betis on the riverside in Triana. A nice place where every evening, if there is an audience, you can enjoy splendid live shows at the cost of a drink, and often late at night you may happen to hear the most beautiful and famous Sevillian voices of flamenco. Then if you like to throw yourself and feel that you have the right rhythm in the blood, you will surely find a gentle knight who invites you to dance, teaching you the steps of a sensual and cheerful dance like the sevillana.

Only note: don't go early, here we are in the heart of Spain and the place doesn't fill up before midnight. The shows also start late, around 24.30 and continue late into the night.
