Do you remember the post I'll give you Barcelona for one night, do you want it? To win the night atGrums Hotel was Francesca who finally sent us her post, with photos, of the living room. Envious? I actually a little bit yes: P
So shod my faithful leopard sandals and having recovered my partner who would have served as judge with me, I set out to discover the hotel. Recently built, the Grums well represents the "new classics"Present in many European cities: urban hotels that mix eye-catching colors, design furniture and a decidedly young staff.
It has a central location but secluded from the areas most visited by tourists. It is located in the neighborhood of Poble Sec one of the few still authentic (or almost) in the city, a few metro stops practically from everything: Plaza Catalunya and the ramblas, Plaza Espanya, Paseo de Gracia and the street of modernism, the Raval .. (Merto L3-green, Paralel or Drassanes stops, Metro L2-lila Paralel stop).
Before going to know the most touristic places in the city I recommend exploring the neighborhood in order to appreciate the micro-world that animates it: Pakistani fruit sellers, street vendors of typical Cuban products, Spanish and Italian restaurants, in short a journey within a journeyIf you arrive in summer then try to grab a table in one of the many restaurant terraces of calle Blai.
Returning to the hotel, le rooms are spacious and decorated with soft colors and little furniture. cold but it is a pledge to pay when choosing the design style. The bathroom lacks the bidet so dear to us Italians but still spacious and with a fairly typical division in Spain, that is exposed sink in the room, shower and separate toilet. There are four different categories and each floor responds to a different theme: the neighborhoods of the city, emblematic buildings, historical characters, etc.
We had a room on the first floor of the privilege series of which we especially appreciated the fantastic King size bedwithout exaggerating one of the most comfortable never tried.
Given the hidden position then, even the silence it must surely be counted among one of the advantages offered by the hotel to travelers who are tired and eager to rest. Abundant breakfast and varied which is served in the hotel restaurant but unfortunately not on the terrace; friendly and always available staff. There is also one spa area complete with sauna and swimming pool but quite small and unfortunately too full when we wanted to try it. Overall a recommendable hotel, especially for the strategic position and the wonderful Latvian.
