My summer 2011 was marked by a Last Second trip to one of the Balearic Islands from Spain: Formentera. Destination dreamed of by many but also, in my opinion, very overrated.
The color of the sea was the thing that excited me the most in this holiday while the cost of aperitifs and dinners it was the one that hit my wallet the most.
The island is very small and is recommended rent a moped to turn it around freely. After a full day literally spread on a beach groping, for the heat, between the umbrella and the water, here is the time for an aperitif.
Crucial moment in the young and worldly life on the island (maybe a few years ago) because now the aperitif consists of a drink for € 11 with a bowl of peanuts (for free !? But thanks!) and with soft background music, in two words: a disappointment!
After five evenings of expensive aperitifs and sad in beautiful and fashionable clubs and lost sunsets due to the clouds that arrived on time we decided to do a alternative aperitif and to enjoy the sunset directly from the beach: it was the best evening. We went to one of the supermarkets on the island, we bought beer and chips and off to the beach to wait for the sunset.
I highly recommend it if you are on the island of vips. An event that is undoubtedly romantic and fun at the same time to share with your better half or with friends. My favorite beach on the island was Platja de ses Illetes and the most characteristic place is undoubtedly the hippy market a El Pilar de la Mola (even if there is very little left of hippies!).
As for Formentera… I don't recommend it.
Too vip, too expensive, too small.
Oh I forgot the cost of one plate pizza it's about € 16!
You do…
Buenaonda everyone!
