Madrid in last minute useful tips for choosing hotels, restaurants and places to visit.
I have been to Madrid with my boyfriend for a weekend lungo (4 gg).
It was a last-minute organized trip but by now we are specializing in “last, last minute” trips and the choice turned out to be excellent, as we booked everything via the internet.
Travel to Madrid information, guide, tips and suggestions
He flew Turin-Madrid on time.
We were also amazed at the amount of really great food they served us.
We have always chosen the hotel on the web, spending very little.
We chose a four-star hotel in a very beautiful turn of the century building, totally renovated.
The only flaw is that it is not very quiet, you can hear all the noises of the Gran Via and this, if you are a little light sleeper, can be disturbing.
However, we would gladly stay there again because the room was spacious and clean, there was free Internet connection (which for us is a nice option) and the staff was very friendly.
New Year's Eve in Madrid useful tipsHowever, breakfast was not included and cost € 13 each but we found, just opposite, a little place specializing in breakfasts where with € 1,5 they give you cappuccino, coffee or similar, and a brioches or bread, butter and jam .
I recommend that you buy the Madrid card which allows free access to all museums and a number of other attractions such as the cableway, the zoo, cinema 3D and the unlimited use of Bus Madrid Vision (they are those double-decker buses that do the sightseeing tour of the city).
The Madrid card for 48 hours costs € 35 but buying it via the internet saves € 4.
It does not include free use of public transport but the subway does not cost much: the 10 ticket booklet costs € 6,15 while the single ride € 1.
La subway it is very efficient and clean, there is also a line that directly connects the airport to the city center.
Together with the Madrid Card, a small guide is provided with information about the various museums and attractions: be careful because the indications are a little sparse, for example the opening hours are almost never indicated and often it is not well explained how to reach the attractions you located outside the center.
The Internet connection also served us to make up for these shortcomings !!!
Madrid advice on where to eat and what to eat
Eating in Madrid it is very simple and you eat almost everywhere above all around Plaza Major and is full of cafes where you can taste the famous "Tapas".
I also recommend the boccadillo of calamares: a wonderful sandwich filled with fried squid.
They had also pointed out a place where you can eat excellent paella but, unfortunately, we didn't book in time.
3 days in MadridHowever it is found in queen street, which is a parallel of the Gran Via, and is called "La Barraca".
Prices should be fairly low.
Personally I believe that Madrid is a beautiful city especially for the joie de vivre and the warmth that the people of Madrid always manage to transmit is a "hot" city, where you can find people around until late in the evening and whose streets are very pleasant to walk.
