Trekking in Nepal but not only, when to go to Asia and Nepal for the best climbs, which cities to see if you don't like trekking and what not to miss to follow the cult of religions.
Do you want to test yourself with a trekking? Try a ride on the back of a elephant? Or would you rather lose yourself among the temples and follow the scent of incense? Then you are in the right place: the Nepal is the one for you! And don't worry, it's a country that you can visit all year round, depending on what you want to do.
Speaking of Nepal, the first thing you think about are the mountains
The best times to do trekking are between mid-March and mid-May, from October to November. In the first period you will find a very hot climate, especially during the day, and a lot of haze, to the detriment of visibility. Occasionally it rains for a few hours, especially in the evening; but do not be discouraged and indeed give thanks, because it will clear the sky and the show will be guaranteed the next morning. In the second period you will certainly find cooler, but the days are clear and will allow you to enjoy a breathtaking view. If your holidays fall right in August and you absolutely want to go trekking, the Mustang is for you: since it is a deserted area, the risk of rain is minimal and is therefore practicable all year round (even if it is cold in winter!).
Seven mountain lovers, but too lazy for a trek? Here is an excellent solution: stay comfortably in the city. The best places are Pokhara e Sarangkot. From the first you can see the Annapurna massif; the second can be easily reached by taxi from Pokhara, and from there it is possible to witness the incredible sunrise over the Himalayan range: from Daulaghiri to Annapurna. If you are in the capital, Kathmandu, go by bus or other means to Nagarkot, where you can admire nothing less than Everest and other XNUMXm peaks ... Provided you are very lucky with the weather!
Nepal offers you the opportunity to travel from the high and majestic Himalayan peaks to the flat and warm jungle. Head south, into Chitwan Natural Park. In addition to natural beauties, Nepal also offers a splendid historical part.
A place to visit is Lumbini, the city where they say the Buddha was born. Speaking of religions, Kathmandu and its Valley offer the main places of worship: for Buddhists it is Bodhnath, the largest stupa in all of Asia, and the monastery of Kopan, which stands on a hill just above Kathmandu; for the Hindus instead there is Pashupatinath, the temple that stands on the banks of the Bagmati River and the place where cremations take place. Another temple that deserves a visit is that of Swayambuhnath, also known as the monkey temple, where both religions coexist harmoniously. Absolutely not to be missed are the three royal cities: Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Patan. True open-air museums, where it is nice to get lost in their streets and discover hidden temples every time, and then find yourself in the splendid squares that animate these cities.
In general, both for trekking and for cultural visits, the period to be avoided absolutely is that of rains which runs from June to September.
In short, there are things to do and see in this splendid country that never ceases to surprise there is something for all tastes and for all seasons ... Just leave!
