When I came across a place called "Santa Piadina" to Barcelona I was a bit stunned. I that I come from Romagna the homeland of piadinas should I trust a piadina in Barcelona? In the end I tasted it, I was not at all convinced but I tasted it. There piada with nutella it was formidable.
Now me I am of the idea that when we go abroad we should eat local food as much as possible and not look for something that reminds us of home at all costs. Most of the time these holidays are relatively short, changing flavors and tastes for a few days won't make us feel worse, maybe just better.
However, I accepted the piadina, tasted it and surprised some surprises it was really good. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, it felt like I was at home, in Rimini, in Romagna. The Nutella piadina that I tried was fabulous, inside they also made wraps of questionable but acceptable combinations. But the classics were there. Also the raw materials were explained, the Parma's ham, rocket and others delicacies made in Italy.
Talking a little with whoever made the piadina we discover that the girl is Italian, but she only works there, the shop is not hers. The shop is one South American lady who has been engaged for several years to a Italian boy who taught her how to make piadina, the mysterious mystery is revealed. Then they broke up and as in the best love stories that end there is always someone who earns something ... she learned how to make piadina and put on a business not to laugh. In other areas of Barcelona there is the same shop, not just a Plaza de Sant Pere 11 where I found it.
