Barcelona, which I experienced as erasmus student, it is a city always on the move and the places to have fun are truly endless. Writing a post about the places to recommend means making a selection but they would be hundreds those to be included in the list. Each area has its own particularity: Grace is the bohemian neighborhood where to go to eat or drink something in peace, the Raval is the most infamous area but also lively and fun, la Zone high is that of the discos "pijas" (pussies) and more expensive, the port and Barceloneta are the areas of the clubs for tourists ... but in each area it is easy to find fantastic places to spend a fun night.
My ideal evening starts at Champagneria, during aperitif time. La Champagneria is a small place very close to the Barceloneta metro station (precisely, in Carrer de la Reina Cristina, a narrow and dark alley). This place has no signs but you will easily recognize it due to the buzz and movement in front of the place. To enter you will have to fight against English, Italian, German Erasmus and consider yourself lucky if you leave there with dry clothes: the wine (pink or white cava) is super cheap - a glass costs only 80 cent. - but it is served in low and wide champagne glasses so it is very easy to spill on it. The wine is accompanied by delicious sandwiches with ham freshly prepared. I challenge anyone to get out of there sober.
If you prefer a appetizer less busy (and slightly more expensive) the place to try is La Fianna in Carrer Banys Vells, in the Born district. It's a dark place, with medieval atmosphere: you sit around large tables or on the mezzanines with mattresses to lie down or curl up to drink a bottle. Don't miss the tapas menu: le patatas bravas they are among the best in Barcelona and also chicken or le Fajitas they are very good.
For the after dinner you move to other rooms. THE more fashionable they cannot miss the mythical Princesa 23, a lounge bar very popular with Erasmus, in Carrer de la Princesa (near the Picasso Museum). Here the cocktails are delicious, mojito first and foremost and the atmosphere is pre-night in the disco, therefore very charged.
Most alternative instead they find themselves atBlack Ovella: a real must. La Ovella Negra is a tavern, a tavern: large sticky tables, jugs of sangria and red wine are the masters for an evening that risks ending up there if you are not careful about the amount of alcohol. La Ovella Negra is located in the center, a stone's throw from the Rambla, in Carrer de les Sitges, but very tactically the owners of the Ovella have opened a branch in Poble Nou, just behind the famous nightclub Razzmatazz. Here you will have the opportunity to run into companies of authentic Barcelona people, unlike what happens at the Ovella in the center, frequented only by Erasmus. La Ovella is open every day and it is also a classic on midweek evenings, when you just want a glass and a chat.
And if you want go dancing in Barcelona you are really spoiled for choice. I will limit myself to two discos, among my favorites, but there is something for everyone. A very famous place is there Apollo Room, in Parallel. It is a former cinema-theater converted into a concert hall / club. IS' divided in two parts, Apolo and Sala 2: in the first, certainly the most evocative, the biggest concerts take place, in the second there are evenings and DJ sets, always of the highest quality and fun. Sala Apolo 1 is housed in an old theater with a wooden floor: a peculiarity is that the cocktails are still served in glasses, which naturally break during the evening, so at the time of the exit (presumably after sunrise) you will hear the noise of the shards under your shoes. Nasty Mondays.
Another very nice disco is the Magic, in Paseo Picasso. It is a not very big nightclub, which has remained a bit in the area Years' 70, both for the style and for the proposed music: you will find the real one rock from the 70s and 80s, a guaranteed fun for those who do not like classical dance music. It goes without saying that at Magic, as in all clubs in Barcelona, it is necessary not to arrive after a certain time, to avoid the long line and risk being left out.
evening in the center, I recommend a nice tour in the thousand places of the Raval. One of my favorites is definitely there Teteria Baraka in Carrer Valldonzella: a tea room furnished with a mix of Arabic and English style, divided on two floors. There it is possible to enjoy a cup of tea or eat a vegetarian but tasty dish.
