The Black Theater in Prague

    The Black Theater in Prague

What's better than tasting a city in all its aspects? Among them, when visiting Prague, there is definitely the Black Theater (black theater)… Those of you who have already been there have certainly seen several posters scattered around the city advertising this kind of representation typical of Czech culture. The black theaters are many, scattered throughout the city and with a charm of yesteryear ... Generally they are almost always crowded with spectators and it would be a real shame to leave without having tasted this kind of performance that is truly unique in its kind.

It is a kind of silent and light-based theater, shadows and sounds, in which it is absolutely forbidden to speak. During my visit, in December 2012, I chose “Ta Fantastika” in the middle of Karlova street, exactly at number 8, where “Aspects of Alice” freely inspired by Lewis Carroll's “Alice in Wonderland” was performed. In reality the story begins when Alice's journey ends as a child and retraces some fundamental stages of her youth, passing through happiness, sadness and serenity. The actors are truly amazing and the stage effects are breathtaking. Obviously the settings are those of modern-day Prague, from Charles Bridge, to the Old Town Square, to get to the Castle ... in short, it is a journey into the city you are visiting but with Alice's eyes ...

Currently the show is still in programming, indeed there are two shows for each day, tickets can be booked directly at the theater, but I recommend you play in advance, or tremble the website of the theater.

The location is excellent, a few steps from the famous Charles Bridge and the after show is definitely a good Czech beer drunk in one of the many clubs in the area… in short, an experience that I highly recommend and that will only enrich the knowledge of the culture of Prague.
