When we announced to friends that we were organizing a weekend in Spain the bets are open: Barcelona or Madrid? Neither one nor the other. We have never been to Spain, but we have decided that our access key will be Valencia.
Why Valencia? What made us lean towards this city and not other cities, perhaps better known? We started looking for information about the city to try to understand if it could interest us, this is the result: here are our three good reasons to organize a weekend end June in Valencia.
First the flights. Valencia is the third most important city in Spain and is very well served. Ryanair, for example, offers direct flights from seven airports at prices ranging between € 50 and € 100.
Architecture. In Valencia, different architectures overlap that draw the history of the city and tell of Roman and Muslim conquests, of the Middle Ages and modernity, up to the present day with the work of the architect Santiago Calatrava, who was born in Valencia.
The kitchen. It is said that the real paella is the Valencian one ... In any case in Valencia it seems that the food is eaten well and we will be able to test the cuisine because at the end of June 2014 it takes place Cuina oberta: a whole week in which the best restaurants in Valencia offer their menus at affordable prices, € 20 for lunch and € 30 for dinner. With € 15 more you can taste the dishes of the 4 starred restaurants in the city. How not to take advantage of it?
And then still 300 days of sunshine a year, the feast of St. John, so green.
If we have tempted you or just intrigued you can try to win a flight to Valencia for two people by participating in the competition Taste and win Valencia... In the meantime, let's go ahead!
Have you ever been to Valencia? What do you recommend to see, do, taste?
