Excellent low cost solution to sleep a stone's throw from the ferry that leads to the famous sanctuary, hospitality and kindness, comfort and a very good restaurant: welcome to Miyajima Coral Hotel.
Visit theMiyajima Island (near Hiroshima) is a wonderful experience. For this reason I recommend staying overnight near this natural oasis instead of opting for the more popular day trip from Hiroshima. In this way you can fully enjoy the atmosphere that the island can offer. An atmosphere made of ancient sounds, animals considered sacred, alleys to go through in silence until the discovery of big red Torii, very suggestive, which heralds the famous Itsukushima Shrine. Sleeping a stone's throw from the sanctuary is not very cheap, so with this post I want to recommend alow cost option a stone's throw from the ferry that leads to the island in 10 minutes. I'm talking about the Miyajima Coral Hotel, for us a great discovery.
Miyajima Coral Hotel: review
This property is a 5-minute walk from the Miyajima Guchi Station, the last stop by train from Hiroshima to reach your destination.
It is a 3 star hotel, which is a very short walk from the small port where you will have to take the ferry to Miyajima Island. In this way you can stay on the island longer with the awareness of having accommodation just 10 minutes away by ferry, thus savoring the atmosphere that the island can offer you: with its sacred deer and ... really hungry! Pay attention to your maps: they love it.
You can stroll through the alleys of this enchanting place, which seems to have stopped in another time space. But beware, the night on Miyajima Island falls very early, around 18pm the shops close and quietly silence invades these sacred places.
No problem: take the ferry back and enjoy a pleasant evening at the restaurant Miyajima Coral Hotel or among the clubs near the station: they are very lively and you will find open shops, excellent food, habits and characteristics different from those of the larger cities. An experience to do during your trip to Japan.
A unique welcome
The hotel staff is very welcoming and attentive. Yes, in Japan the standard is higher than in our hotels, but here I assure you that you will find a special climate.
My family and I were lucky enough to be the first customers of the year. So we were invited to participate in a local tradition: break the barrel of Kizakura Sake with a dedicated tool similar to a hammer. It was really fun, funny and exciting. We were also picked up by the hotel staff :)
The Miyajima Coral Hotel restaurant
The strong point of the hotel, in addition to the kindness and proximity to the port, in my opinion lies in the food. Breakfast is very different from the more continental offerings of classic hotel chains. Instead, you can enjoy a 0 km breakfast complete with zuppa di miso (exquisite) e typical onigiri of the island stuffed with a particular and spicy seaweed at the right point. I still dream of them! Excellent rice of course, but also salmon, local vegetables, green tea, eggs… A wonderful way to get off to a good start and continue your journey, eating in peace in front of an enchanting view.
Given the excellent cuisine of the hotel and the exquisite gastronomy of the island, I recommend that you also book your traditional dinner. You will always eat local and seasonal products, for example you can taste oysters: large, delicious and juicy. Choose one of the sets offered: you will taste a bit of everything while truly living the experience of a Kaiseki meal: traditional dinner that includes many small courses.
Services
As for the hotel services: you will find free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, self-service laundry service with dryer, vending machines (in Japan there are never any shortages), a small shop where you can buy local products. Two dining options with microwave and coffee maker.
You can choose between rooms with French or Japanese-style beds. Are available rooms with sea view: we stayed in one of these rooms and we were really satisfied.
il Miyajima Coral Hotel it is the typical hotel that manages to give you that little bit extra to keep in the memory of the trip. The typical hotel to return to.
