In Arizona between Antelope Canyon, Lake Powell and Horseshoe bend, the advice of those who have been there and can give you unique and cheap tips to travel to the United States of America.
What's Near Page, north Arizona, there are some wonders of nature that cannot be missed in the context of a trip to the western USA.
One is Antelope Canyon which is located 8 km (4,6 miles) just west of Page on US 98 W you have to turn right at the sign to find the Visitor's Center of this wonder. It is an underground canyon with several openings in the rocky vault and these openings allow the entry of the sun's rays which, hitting the colorful walls, make a play of lights and colors worthy of the best scenographer.
You walk for over an hour inside this canyon, always looking upwards to try to catch the next ray of sunshine and be amazed by the marvel of colors and light effects. I don't think it can be described in words. To enjoy this wonder the advice is to visit midsummer and at noon or in any case in the central hours of the day when the sun enters the cracks almost perpendicularly but you have to book because the influx of tourists is considerable.
There are excursions organized by Page or you can go there the day before to see if you can find a place for individual visits (you can still enter in groups). This is the north entrance (Upper Antelope Canyon) but there is also a south one (Lower Antelope Canyon). The show is comparable.
Returning to Page and passing the town, you find yourself on Glen Dam; the dam that forms the Lake Powell. A stop right on the dam is a must to admire the blue lake between red rock walls on the north side and the deep canyon on the south side of the dam. About 7km (4,3 miles) north of the dam there is Wahweap the port where you can rent Houseboats, a kind of camper on boats that are rented for days or weeks with which to go around Lake Powell to discover the wonders that are hidden in the thousand inlets (stone arches, colored walls, islands or the simple navigation on the Colorado).
There is also another rental point north of Page (Antelope Point Marina). It is also possible to rent in Page. It is one of the most relaxing and colorful experiences you can have here in the USA.
But the wonders aren't over yet. in fact 5 km (3,5 miles) southwest of Page, along US 89 S is located Horseshoe Bend for the shape that the Colorado River takes on at this point. After leaving the car in the square, you have to travel a kilometer on a sandy and dusty track before arriving at the observation point.
The road to be covered on foot is slightly downhill on the outward but is uphill on the way back and there is no shelter and in the height of summer it is really heavy as the sun beats down hard. Bring enough water and cover yourself to avoid severe burns. The show is something great.
To carry out all these visits you can stay in Page which is fairly equipped with accommodation facilities but you must book well in advance because it is a very popular destination even for groups of international tourists given its strategic position as a starting point for numerous excursions.
