Argentina, five places not to be missed

What to see in Argentina? Five places not to be missed according to our author, five places she has seen and can recommend for a trip to South America.

Mine trip to Argentina it wasn't one of those trips I always wanted to take.
In fact, the idea of going was born a little by chance, partly because I was going with a native and partly because the tickets were so cheap that I couldn't say no.

Argentina, five places not to be missed

Like many of those trips that were born by chance, it's one of my favorite ones and Argentina a destination that I have back on my wish list. There is so much to see that one time was not enough for me!
Unfortunately, in fact, due to lack of time (I had in everything twenty days) I decided to focus mainly on Buenos Aires and the southern area of the country, where I did a lot of trekking!
So here you are, my personal top five.

1. Buenos aires

The capital is a surprising city. So big and inspiring, it never ceases to surprise.
From the beautiful neighborhood of Palermo to the Recoleta neighborhood symbol of art noveau style, from traditional (and touristic) San Telmo e La Boca to finish in Puerto Madero, symbol of the most modern Buenos Aires.
Go and look at one tango show, listen to the musicality of their language and why not, as it happened to me, take part in a demonstration in the Plaza de Mayo!

Mix with the porteños which are an explosive mix of Italians, Spaniards, Germans, Poles, French .. and so on and so forth and try to keep their pace during the very long (and very frequent) asados.

Go to a fragrant one pasticerria and buy las facturas or los alfajores, typically Argentine sweet wonders.

Be surprised when they offer you to eat typical dishes such as bagna cauda, los ñoquis (yes they write it just like that) or the fainà which is our farinata but which they eat as if it were a pizza topping.

Argentina, five places not to be missed

Like many cities in Latin America, it has a reputation for being very dangerous. My Argentine friends had in fact terrified me, with tales of bloody muggings and psychopathic taxi drivers. The truth is, I went walking around alone and I had no problem, even if it is certain that both eyes must always be open and try to respect the basic rules of an intelligent traveler.

In reality, I had my worst experience thanks to my now ex-mother-in-law, who accompanied me to the inside of the bus to be able to tell the driver to keep an eye on me as a poor defenseless foreigner. Dead of shame, I hid in a corner to be able to look at the city undisturbed from the window.

2. Perito Moreno

Getting there was an adventure for me. Lost the bus, I decided to hitchhike, to finally find an intermediate solution and arrive in front of that marvel that is the Perito Moreno.
I had never seen anything more awesome. You can't miss it, it's just beautiful.

3. Laguna Torre (El Chalten)

A classic itinerary for lovers of easy trekking that allows you to admire the most mythical mountains of the world from afar Patagonia: El Cerro Torre.

4. Fitz Roy (El Chalten)

It is reputed to be one of the hardest mountains to climb, but there are trekking for all levels! Highly recommended with tent experience included (but don't mind going out at night). The most dangerous thing was the journey from el Calafate to Chalten, with the craziest mini bus driver in the world.
