A Zara in addition to the Sea Organ there is also the Salute to the Sun. Right in the historic city center of Croatia, these two installations make the Croatian city incredibly modern.
The Greeting to the Sun, as well as the Sea Organ is also an installation by Nikola Bašić, a Croatian architect born in 1946 who has curated several installations in his homeland. This work is located exactly next to the Sea Organ, even if it was born a few years later. On the tip of the peninsula it is therefore possible and simultaneously to play with the lights of this installation and listen to the sweet melody of the sea waves given by the Sea Organ, a marvel, don't you think?
But what is the sun salutation actually? This is an installation made with three hundred glass plates multilayer, placed at the same level as the shore pavement. Circular in shape, with a diameter of 22 meters, the Greeting to the Sun was conceived as a space art installation a form of amphitheater around which, arranged on stone blocks, all the planets of the solar system revolve, each drawing its own orbit.
The sunlight is captured throughout the day and releases all its beauty in the evening. THE panels Among other things, this installation includes photovoltaic panels which, after capturing the light, make it colored at different rates along the entire surface, but not only. The light captured by the panels is also used for give energy to the city of Zadar. A final curiosity is that which sees the names of the saints of Zadar to which the churches of the peninsula had been consecrated.
The Greeting to the Sun must therefore be seen, heard and felt, perhaps on a warm summer evening, returning from the beach, at sunset. If you are not sure how to go, but you want to go, book a flight and leave;)
