Skiathos is a small Greek island that is part of the archipelago of Northern Sporades, in the northwestern Aegean.
A holiday for everyone
It is a goal that with more than 60 beaches satisfies any traveler: families, teens, adventurers, couples or singles.
It ranges from long golden sandy beaches to small pebble bays to tourist bays equipped with every comfort up to isolated and wild ones but all united by a common denominator: the wonderful crystalline sea.
But today we find out the three most beautiful and least touristy beaches on the island: Kechria, Kastro and Megas Gialos.
1. Kechria
It is located in the western part of the island so it is ideal for those who like to stay on the beach until late in the evening to admire the sunset.
It is easily accessible and is also equipped with comfortable sun beds and umbrellas.
For a relaxing lunch break in the shade of the olive trees there is also a delicious one tavern with wooden tables and chairs offering tasty local dishes at moderate prices.
Kechria offers two splendid coves with clear and crystalline water but you have to pay attention to the rocks present in the first stretch of sea.
Ideal for those who love isolated beaches but don't mind comfort.
2. Kastro
It is located in the north of the island and is truly spectacular.
She became famous thanks to the musical film Mamma Mia who chose the church that rises above the beach as the location for one of the scenes in the film.
The well-known church can be reached by crossing a short and panoramic path overlooking the sea.
Unlike Kechria it is more difficult to reach as the descent to the beach must be done on foot or on the back of horses.
However, the small effort is amply rewarded by the breathtaking view of the sea and the lush nature that surrounds the bay.
La beach, not equipped, is deserted until late morning then unfortunately begins the comings and goings of tourists who land with boats by sea but remain only an hour, time for a swim and then leave for luck.
Here too there is a characteristic tavern sheltered from the sun where you can have lunch or a small snack.
It is undoubtedly the most suggestive of the three beaches visited by nature, sea and location.
Ideal for those who want to combine a little adventure and movement with a day at the beach.
3. Megas Gialos
It is the most isolated and wild of the three, located in the northeast of the island.
This too is not easily accessible.
You have to drive along a dirt road for a few kilometers and then continue on foot to go down to the beach.
The effort to reach it is amply rewarded by naturalistic show surrounding the bay.
The beach is not equipped and there are no refreshment points so I recommend bringing a backpack with water and food and an umbrella to shelter from the heat of the sun.
An ideal beach for those who love silence and peace, away from the mass tourism that invades the most famous beaches.
Here you will really have the feeling of being shipwrecked on a desert island!
