Il Sonesta Beach Resort, where I was in Sharm el Sheikh is a 5 star hotel, as in reality you see so many in Sharm. In this tourist resort in Egypt, a 5-star hotel costs a little more than the others but often at similar services. The Sonesta is located in Naama Bay 20 minutes walk from the "city center" and its peculiarity is that it is the last (or the first, depending on where you look at it) hotel that has a promenade that leads directly to new Sharm. The nice thing then is that towards the 16/17 in the afternoon you can take the promenade that runs along the beach on one side and the 5-star resorts / hotels on the other until you reach the center.
After 17/18 it is not recommended to take this route because even if it is illuminated it still remains a dark area. There are several clubs and restaurants even if touristy because close to large hotels, in short, quality is difficult to define.
The Sonesta is a really very big hotel even if I lack some internal animation, at least in January when it was me, it does not have free wifi but a paid connection (a 120 € per week) which can only be used from the hotel lobby and the water in the pools is quite cold. There is only a very hot pool but it is inside a private house of the hotel - so you can't go there. All in all though if you want 5 stars but especially if you want a hotel with a beach and where you can get to Naama Bay easily and on foot, the Sonesta isn't bad.
Other important considerations are the cost of the taxi and the beach. In many comments on Tripadvisor I had read that the Hotel beach it is very small and you don't fit in. Here, I did not find it too small, even if probably in August with a full crowd it is possible it is a bit skimpy. Finally the taxis. If you want to go out one evening after dinner from here I suggest you call a taxi, the walk is not recommended costs 2/3 € at most up to Naama Bay. If they ask you for more, refuse.
Ah yes, the staff practically speak all languages : D Definitely Italian, English, Russian and of course Arabic. You will certainly get away with the language and have fun!
