Corfu is an enchanting island that is part of the archipelago of Greek islands called Ionic. It has many attractions and beaches to visit. In detail I want to describe the 5 most beautiful beaches.
Glyfada
The beach of Glyfada, is located on the west coast 16 kilometers from the capital of the island Corfu Town. The golden beach is characterized by an expanse of fine sand, a crystalline sea and a very shallow seabed that also allows children to swim in peace.
On the left side there are rock formations that create small natural pools, while the rest of the beach is equipped with umbrellas and deck chairs. On this beach there are also several bars favored by young people.
To reach it you will have to cross the wild heart of the island, in the low season there is free parking, which in high season is insufficient. With a small amount you can park in a paid area.
Halikounas
Its position makes it very special and interesting to visit, in fact the beach is located between the Ionian Sea and Lake Korission, and is a small strip of land.
Located about 25 km from Corfu Town on the west coast, this beach is a stretch of sand that divides the sea from the lake. Due to its conformation it is a very quiet beach and far from the most hectic tourism.
Much loved by surfers due to its windy location on the west coast of the island and only 5 kilometers from the most famous and noble beach of Agios Georgios.
The beach is about 3km long. It is not equipped and there are no main roads that pass near it. The soft sand and location are truly spectacular. A popular destination for families with children, even if the advice is to be equipped with food and drinks considering the scarcity of services.
Agios Giorgios Pagi
Located on the north west coast of the island, there is the beach of Agios Giorgios Pagi, which should not be confused with the homonymous town south of the island Agios Giorgios.
The beach is located in a wide valley with a horseshoe-shaped bay surrounded by rocky promontories, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view.
It is considered one of the best and safest beaches on the whole island, with its golden sand that stretches for almost 5km. You can practice water sports and it is equipped with umbrellas and sunbeds. There are no large resorts, only small houses that make the place very quiet.
Paleokastritsa
This beach has been awarded several times for its beauty and the quality of the sea. This area is spread over a very large area with 5 different bays with 6 inlets both of sand and gravel, and some smaller ones completely rocky where you can still swim.
Located 25 kilometers from the capital of the island in the North West area. The largest and most touristic beach is located just below the ancient monastery, is equipped with umbrellas and sunbeds and has many services.
To reach the other beaches you can take the countless taxi boats that take you among the most beautiful coves in all of Greece. This area is the ideal destination for snorkeling and diving, because the sea is deep and with a large number of caves and inlets. A visit to the ancient monastery is recommended.
Canal d'amour
This beach is located 36km north of the island's capital, and is west of the village of Sidari, a very tourist destination with many attractions for young people and families.
The Canal d'amour beach is a complex of small beaches set in bays carved by the sea. The peculiarity lies in the fact that there are many caves that can be crossed by swimming. One of them connects two of these coves creating a magical and spectacular place.
The place is small and intimate and the conformation of the bays with fine sand, rock walls and crystal clear water make the location unique.
