If you are in Spain, especially from the parts of Bilbao, you can't miss its subway. Inaugurated in 1995, it has a Y shape that mostly runs along the Nervión River.
What sets this apart subway is its realization, signed by the famous architect N. Its entrances are not as historic as the Paris Metro, but they are certainly a work of art. Large pipes that emerge from the subsoil and are also called by the Basque population fosteritos in honor of its builder.
These entrances made of glass, crystal and concrete seem to emerge from under the ground and are real works of art. Its benches won in 2000 the National Industrial Design Award of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The subway has a modern font and colors based on white, black and red that allow a faster and easier reading of the media. The station most appreciated by the inhabitants of Bilbao and its tourists is certainly that of Sarriko. This loses the characteristic of the tube entrance that all the other subway entrances have. It has an entrance completely made of crystal, very large which gives light to the whole station, moreover the descent of the escalator is gradual and allows you to remember this innovative station for a long time.
