Where and how to buy tickets to see a basketball or baseball game in America, here's how we bought tickets to see the Clippers in Los Angeles with Hellotickets.
One thing I love to do when I'm abroad is do what the locals do. This is certainly the best way to experience the journey from the inside, the perfect way to feel not only on vacation, but also traveling, an active part of a society that is being explored and understood.
As well as I had done in New York, going to a baseball game, I also did a Los Angeles, going to a basketball game, specifically the Staples Center, huge in the heart of Los Angeles, I saw one of two local teams, the Clippers. I must admit that I'm not a basketball fanatic, in Italy I have seen about 5 basketball games in my entire life (counting my nephew's too), yet in Los Angeles a game was a must, especially for the show (true show from start to finish), but also to immerse yourself completely in the context in which I found myself.
So, a few days before my departure for Los Angeles I went to the website of Hellotickets and I first entered the city where I would soon be heading: Los Angeles, in fact. Once I entered the city, I was asked for the dates of my stay and again, after this step, I was able to see all the events in the city during my days in beautiful LA. I then concentrated on sport events, because with a 2 year old it is really hard to see a musical or any other performance where you have to remain silent. With a game of basketball it's much easier to let him let off steam too.
At first I had the thought of seeing myself another baseball game, but then I thought that in Los Angeles basketball is very strong and that perhaps it would have been better for us to see a real American basketball game. The Lakers weren't playing on the dates of our stay, but the Clippers did. I took the tickets, really payment is very simple, we received by mail the print of the receipt that we took on the trip with us.
On the second night of our trip to Los Angeles, we had our first real American basketball game. We showed up with one hour early at the Staples Center, so as to eat something inside and to do the checks. Backpacks must be checked and labeled at the entrance, children under the 3 years do not pay and inside the stadium there is a huge variety of food available for those who want to eat, before, during or after the game. Half an hour from the start, we searched for our seats and took our seats.
Anyone with children should know that i strollers they can be brought into the chosen ring, but then they must be left in a special room where they are inspected and labeled. You will be provided with a code with which you can collect it at the end of the game. All very quick and easy, American style.
The match started with a bang! About 10 minutes of show accompanied the entrance of the players, it was a thrill from start to finish, despite our jet lag making us yawn at times. Next to us everyone ate, drank, cheered, chatted and laughed. A truly American experience that will remain with us for a long time, especially in the mind of Giulio who never wanted to leave. We had to promise him that once we were in Italy we would go to another basketball game, otherwise he wouldn't let us take the car.
On our exit they also gave us a life-size flag of one of the Clippers' players, so that Giulio could hang it in his room. The experience was very interesting, especially since we could see a part, not always commonbut very nice of American society.
