La Gran Via a Madrid I've always seen it in photos and honestly it has always been one of those places I wanted to go. In reality I imagined it much bigger, much more chaotic, much more confusing, and instead. But it is chaotic yes, but not that big. To see from the photos that you see on google, its buildings in front of it seem huge and instead when you are under there it seems almost small.
Then why you shouldn't miss the Gran Via?! First of all because the Gran Via completed two years ago 100 years. The Gran Via was built a little over a century ago from King Alfonso XIII of Spain who had this long road of 1 km and 316 meters built. The idea was to make this place almost a Parisian neighborhood even if the movie stars began to frequent this place, the cinemas 12 began to sprout like mushrooms (4 remain today) and hotels became increasingly popular. Result: over the years, more than a small district of Paris, this place looked more and more like a New York neighborhood.
Another reason not to miss this path is his atmosphere. I don't know if i most beautiful sunsets Madrid gave them to me in the 2 days I was in the city, but without a doubt, given the many photos seen, from here the sunset is magical. The atmosphere is incredible and the temperature, never too cold for us Italians, offers a beautiful show that can be admired from every side of the Gran Via, allowing us to witness all the gradation of colors that the sky of Madrid offers us.
