Brussels it is a multicultural city, colorful and beyond what one thinks very lively. A mini guide on what to do, what to eat and above all where to sleep in 48 hours, so a weekend, in a completely low cost way, is an interesting and fun guide thanks to a city like Brussels!
Finding accommodation in Brussels is not difficult at all for one reason. Brussels is one business city during the week for this reason the "business tourism" is present here from Monday to Friday, which is why hotels often offer 50% discount on weekends. A great reason to think of this city as the next stop right?
Among the accommodations in Brussels there are the luxury hotel, Many design hotel and different b & b, all to try. Here's what I recommend. If you want a classic but very nice b & b I recommend the Phileas Fogg , 3 very nice bedrooms and a wonderful breakfast room. Another really interesting b & b is Chambres en Ville which in addition to the finely furnished rooms also has an apartment in the attic that can only be used if booked for at least 15 days.
If instead you prefer the bed and breakfast Hotel, I recommend theLe Berger hotel, a hotel that used to be a former brothel and has been completely renovated today. The Hotel is wonderful and above each room there is the name of the girl who "lived there". I highly recommend it for the price, location and great hearty breakfast. Among other hotels I can recommend theBloom Hotel, a hotel with 4 floors of rooms, all different in design, and with 7 different styles based on the size and services offered. Last design hotel I recommend is the Monty Design Hotel, a little expensive compared to the others but very particular.
After choosing the accommodation you will be interested in knowing where to eat in Brussels. One of the main dishes, as you know, only le mussels and fries. In Brussels you will find every restaurant that will be able to offer you, below I point out some restaurants that you should try in my opinion for price and quality, a curiosity: according to local traditions, the dish should only be eaten if the letter "r" appears in the name of the current month, in this case you need to know at least French.
One of the best fry shops that I found in Brussels is there Friteria Tabora, it is located just behind Grand Place, to try, believe me! For a beer-flavored dinner, in the true sense of the word, I recommend Restobieres, a really tasty and nice restaurant in the interior it offers well made dishes all based on beer. The staff is very kind and knows how to recommend and combine the dishes with Belgian beers. If you want to try the real food of this city, go to Restobieres. Another good restaurant right in Grand Place è Felderke a place in the historic center, with good dishes and an atmosphere super romantic for a special evening. For a quick but excellent and low cost lunch, standing and based on fish, I recommend Noordzee Mer du Nord which is located in Piazza Santa Caterina. Great food and great wine, I could go back tomorrow.
You miss the Italian coffee and you absolutely want to drink one? I recommend one of the 3 structures Häagen-Dazs in BRussels , drink Italian Illy coffee and eat some good sweets. Pay attention to the bill, however, in a moment you get to 10 €.
What to see in Brussels? Good question! Starting from the outside I recommend theAtomium, the steel construction of an iron crystal made in 1958, as the Eiffel Tower was built, to understand. The structure can be visited and also offers interesting temporary exhibitions. Also worth seeing Grand Place and if you succeed and happen there too Flower Carpet which takes place in this famous square every year in late summer. Furthermore, if you are a fan of comics, in addition to the murals that you can find in every corner of the city, walking far and wide, you can also find the Brussels Comics Museum.
A curiosity. Among the peculiarities of this city in my opinion there are the public bathrooms, outdoors. If you have to go to the bathroom and you are a woman, here you will not have an easy life, men are facilitated in a big way, public toilets, even in the open air, just everywhere!
