Excursions from Sydney to the Blue Mountains and Taronga Zoo. What to see immersing yourself in nature a few steps from the most famous city in Australia, read here and find out how to get there.
If you are planning a trip to the distant Australia, you couldn't have made a better choice. It is a demanding journey, but full of emotions and landscapes ranging from the great metropolis to unspoiled nature. I was in Australia last summer and visited the reserve near Sydney Blue Mountains and the Taronga Zoo. Both are two perfect stops if you want to spend a day in contact with nature and it is an ideal stop for adults and children.
Blue Mountains with one million hectares of imposing forests, sandstone escarpments and canyons, it will literally make you fall in love thanks to the striking shades of blue that are created in the surrounding landscape made possible by the gases released by the expanses of eucalyptus. Since the territory is very large, I recommend that you rely on a local guide who will take you to evocative places that are often difficult to find for those who are not local.
If you are staying in Sydney you will have to get up at dawn to reach the Blue Mountains, but it will not be worth it, be careful if you have children with you, I recommend that you avoid a day trip.
Along the trails of the Blue Mountains you can admire the panorama with streams, waterfalls, forested valleys, dark gorges and steep escarpments. If you prefer a horse ride follow the Princes Rock Walk up to a panoramic point that opens onto the Wentworth Falls a picturesque waterfall, Kings Tableland and Mount Solitary.
Don't miss the underground rivers, the prehistoric formations and the huge caves of the Jenolan Caves, the oldest network of underground caves open to the public.
Lazy people can take a long and relaxing drive there Greater Blue Mountains Drive - a series of interconnected roads that will lead you to discover tracks that surround 10.000 square kilometers of the Blue Mountains and if you are tired of sitting behind the wheel, get on board the Katoomba Scenic Railway, the steepest railway in the world.
