I have been in Australia for a week and I can confidently say that there is almost nothing here at low cost. For this reason, if you have a limited budget, you will have to try to make wise choices.
YHA is Australia's largest network of hostels, which you can find in the cities and destinations most popular with travelers.
The rates are really affordable, and if you can share a room with 3 or 4 strangers, they are even more so.
Upon check in if you are not yet YHA members, you can become one. Annual membership costs 42 A $ for those who have come on 26 years up e 32 A $ for those who have it less than 26. If you plan to travel the length and breadth of Australia, I recommend that you sign up for the i card advantages that assures you. If you become a member you can stay overnight with a minimum of 10% discount and be entitled to discounted rates on means of transport, travel insurance and packages.
I have to thank a friend who spent a couple of years around here for the tip she gave me. I booked online on YHA Brisbane City, in Upper Roma Street. The location is central and you can walk to it in less than 10 minutes on foot the train station and the bus terminal.
A double room with private bathroom cost A $ 204. Clearly this is not a 5-star hotel suite, but it matches the photos on the website exactly: clean, with a comfortable bed, air conditioning and, not to be underestimated, windows that open. The hostel provides, without the need to pay extra fees, sheets, pillows and towels.
Inside and outside the structure there are areas for relaxation and socializing, WiFi Internet connection (for a fee: 5 A $ per hour), laundry, TV room and games room and a huge kitchen on the top floor , where you can cook and store your supplies.
Also on the top floor there is a beautiful one panoramic terrace, where you can eat while watching the skyscrapers silhouetted against the Brisbane sky, and a small swimming pool open until 22pm.
For the lazy, inside the hostel there is a restaurant - cafeteria, with the license to sell alcohol.
Another very positive aspect that I found when checking in was the availability of the guys at the reception. My travel companion and I arrived in Brisbane at dawn after 3 days of flights and the check in time starts at 14pm. Although our room was not ready yet, we were able to use all the hostel services for free. , from luggage storage to the swimming pool.
If you come to Brisbane, this is a good place to start working off the symptoms of jet lag.
