Opened in May a New York City the new Visitor Center of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is the gateway to Brooklyn's famous gardens. Eco-sustainable architecture and innovative design make this project a real extension of the botanical garden
The glass building of the Visitor Center is long 146 meters and occupies an area of 1.850 square meters.
Once past the desks, visitors can access the Botanical Garden or stop and visit the plant and garden tools shop. The curved walls of the gallery are covered with a special porous fiber which allows the entry of natural light, helps to heat the building and at the same time prevents any impacts of birds.
Outside the building, a wooden walkway leads to a panoramic point from which to admire the roof garden. Also called a living roof, it is completely covered with 40 thousand succulents, bulbs and perennial flowers. The roof changes throughout the year, transforming the Visitor Center each season. Moreover, around the building, approx 60mila new shrubs including cherry trees, magnolias, viburnums, roses.
