All Christmas Markets in Berlin, Germany. Here are the squares where the Christmas Markets in Berlin take place, what to see what to buy in Germany to better enjoy the magic of Christmas. Some addresses on where to sleep, always in the post.
I Christmas markets are a tradition born in Germany. From the time when the oldest Christmas market in history was opened in the year 1384 in Bautzen, the tradition has developed to the present day, where around 2500 Christmas markets are held every year in Germany alone. It is therefore not surprising that there is also a huge choice in the German capital. So let's go to discover the best Berlin markets, on the occasion of their opening just this week.
Magic Christmas Market at Gendarmenmarkt
Gendarmenmarkt - Am Gendarmenmarkt 2, Berlin Mitte
This market, whose original name is Weinachtszauber Gendarmenmarkt, is held in the square of the same name, one of the most beautiful in Berlin, where you can also admire the beautiful Konzerthaus, between the Deutscher Dom and the Französischer Dom. Here you can wander among artisan stalls, carvers, stonecutters and jewelers, have fun with the shows of jugglers, acrobats and fire eaters, attend classical and gospel music performances and taste typical culinary delicacies: of course it is one of the most popular markets, with 60.000 visitors every year. Admission is paid (1 €), free for children under 12 years.
Santa Lucia Christmas Market at the Kulturbrauerei
Kulturbrauerei (Innenhof) - Schönhauser Allee 36-39, Berlin Prenzlauer Berg
The numerous courtyards of the Kulturbrauerei, a cultural center housed in the former Schultheiss brewery, provide an evocative setting for this large market with free admission, named after the feast of Saint Lucia, celebrated on 13 December in Scandinavian countries. The market is in fact focused on Scandinavian traditions: you can hear the choir singing Swedish Christmas carols and traditional songs from all Scandinavian countries and warm yourself around the fire of the large candle-stump, typically Swedish.
Alexanderplatz Christmas Market
Alexanderplatz, Berlin Mitte
One of the largest markets in Berlin takes place at the foot of the iconic TV tower: at Alexanderplatz you can buy the products of numerous artisan stalls, from potters to glassblowers and blacksmiths, warm up with a mulled wine purchased on the ground floor of the Europe's largest Christmas pyramid or go up to the first floor for a panoramic view of the market! Around the square you can also have fun with the ice skating rink (near the Neptune fountain) as well as a real amusement park with rides and Ferris wheel (near the Alexa shopping center).
Winter World at Potsdamerplatz
Potsdamer Platz, Berlin Mitte
For two months, Potsdamer Platz transforms into a wonderland where, in addition to the traditional stalls, you can have fun with the curling rink, the ice skating rink and the largest mobile toboggan run in Europe, with a descent 70 meters long. Only at Potsdamer Platz can you also enjoy Austrian specialties, including Jagertee and Schmankerl, thanks to the culinary stand from Salzburg that will throw you into an alpine ski hut atmosphere!

Admission is set at € 2, but it looks like it will be worth it!
