If you are interested in the Helsinki of design and creativity then you absolutely cannot miss making a leap to Made in Kallio. What is that? Difficult to explain in a few words. We can define it as a community of artists who have rented a series of spaces to practice their art. Where is it? Inside a building in an area of Helsinki that was once just factories and factories. To call it the working-class neighborhood of the capital is not exactly correct. But this is the area where it is easier to find sustainable rents and here is the idea Made in Kallio, 'the best way to predicte the future is to invent it'.
Inside you will first find a very comfortable and welcoming coffee bar, then you can start exploring the building to see film makers, web designers, directors, carpenters, photographers or stylists at work in inventing something. All very young.
Why a bar? Because Finns love coffee and are the main consumers of it in Europe. Of course, the sauna cannot be missing, which can be used by the various artists who make up Made in Kallio. So it is a space to meet artists, sipping a Finnish coffee, eating a typical dessert and at the end you can choose whether or not to buy something of the objects on display. In the summer, the area is filled with various open-air venues with lots of music and is a very popular and trendy destination among young Finns. Made in Kallio is located in Vaasankatu, 14.
