Begonia is the flower that has been celebrated in Belgium for over 40 years, precisely in Brussels. The Flower Carpet takes place in August. Since 1971 Brussels has hosted a very colorful festival to celebrate this event
Officially, the floral carpet tradition began in 1971, on the Grand-Place of Brussels. Each square meter consists of approx 300 individual flowers, in total about 700.000 flowers will color the beautiful square of Brussels.
All even yearsIn fact, on the weekend of August 15 the feast of the Assumption of Mary takes place, the Grand Place is covered with an immense carpet of flowers 25 meters wide by 75 meters long.
Since balcony of the Town Hall which will be open from 9 in the morning until 23 you can enjoy the immense show of flowers even from above. The admission price is € 5, with children under the age of 12 having free access. Personally I didn't go up, the show was magnificent even from below;)
