By bus from Berlin to Prague to travel low cost, comfortable and with wifi. The prices of the link are all on the site.
What better option for travel low-cost and in comfort? Even I would never have said it and I must admit that before leaving I was quite perplexed. But the price convinced me and also the possibility of traveling from one city center to another without too many hitches.
I'm talking about Meinfernbus, a German company that connects all German cities and beyond (daily connections also with Vienna, Amsterdam and the province of Bolzano). The best rate is obtained by booking the ticket online.
Departure is from the ZOB (Zentrale Omnibus Bahnhof) of Berlin. The Kaiserdamm stop on the red line of the U-Bahn is only 250 meters from the bus station. It is important to show up at the stop with the e-ticket at least a quarter of an hour earlier departure (be careful because it is possible that your ticket will be reissued 5 minutes before departure to last minute travelers!).
Usually the drivers are very friendly and witty. Don't be intimidated if you don't understand a word of German. Announcements on board are also in English.
On the most popular routes, like that Berlin-Prague, you travel by double-decker bus. If you are quick enough, you can settle into a front row seat with a panoramic view. Once on board, it is preferable to place backpacks, bags et alia in the overhead bins or under your seat because the Polizei provides for a fine of 116 euros for "flying objects”- and therefore dangerous - in case of braking.
Buses are clean and spacious. There is enough leg room, contrary to what I imagined. Each seat is equipped with a pull-out table, a power socket and a screen. By connecting to the Meinfernbus portal you can access various multimedia contents. You decide whether to watch movies, listen to music or simply follow the bus route and check the weather in your destination city.
Otherwise you can comfortably use the on-board Wi-Fi - covering the whole of Germany - with your smartphone, tablet or laptop. There are always two drivers. In case you feel like munching on something, go with them. All snacks cost 1 euro. THE soft drinks 1.50 euros, beer and prosecco 2 euros. These too, prices more than acceptable.
Il bathroom it is located at the back of the first floor and, although small, is equipped with everything - from soap to toilet paper. The driver will playfully remind the boys that they too must sit on the toilet!
The trip includes one stop in Dresden and I advise you to reopen your eyes if you have dozed off because the bus crosses the city and gives you a mini-sightseeing for free.
Furthermore, it is likely that immediately after the border you will be stopped by the Czech police for the document control. Have your passport or identity card handy and don't be surprised at their being scrupulous.
So in about 5 hours you reach Prague at the modest cost of 18 €. The stop is near the Florenč station. The convenience lies in the fact that it is located at the intersection of the two metro lines, the yellow and the red. In three stops you are in the center (Nàrodnì třìda). Ask for a ticket valid for 30 minutes. It will cost you less than the ordinary ride: 24 crowns, or about 1 euro. And if you've gotten hungry in the meantime, stop by the supermarket in front of the metro stop. I bought three baked items: a cereal sandwich and two cakes. Cost: 19 crowns, which is only 80 cents. More low-cost than that.
