Getting around in Stuttgart, transport cards

Getting around Germany by train and in Stuttgart thanks to the underground line and local trains which are cheap and very comfortable, here are the cards you can't do without.

Stuttgart, a famous city in Germany, is also known for its Cannstatter Volksfest, the beer festival similar to Oktoberfest but with less famous beers and with locals. I was in Stuttgart for two days during the Christmas Markets and I must say that the city seemed to me absolutely well managed from the point of view of public transport.

Transport is reliable, punctual and clean, a bit like in all of Germany and even if my hotel is outside the city center, with only one metro line and in 20 minutes without changing, I was able to reach the center. On weekends my line closed around XNUMXam, which if you are visiting the city is just fine as you will presumably be around by early morning.

La Stuttgart central station, from which both trains and subways depart, is a 5-minute walk from the city center. Getting off the train and passing through an underpass, which is also linked to the subways, you arrive in the main street of the city, which is also pedestrian, Konigstrasse. From here, walk the street for 5/10 minutes in the middle of shops and chains of all kinds and you will arrive at one of the main squares of the city.

Metro stops are scattered throughout the historic center and, without returning to the station again, you can get off at the stop that suits you best and surely find a quick way to your destination. The beauty of the station is its lockers, which I found brilliant throughout Germany to be honest.

You can safely arrive in Stuttgart and leave the luggage at the station for just one day and explore the city with complete peace of mind. The lockers go by the hour and cost about € 5 for seven hours, a good way to travel by train from one city to another without spending a fortune and safely.

Stuttgart travel cards offer many benefits. Die Stuttcard Plus has the cost of 23€, offers free transportation for three days, including the airport ticket. The card includes discounts on many museums and activities to do in Stuttgart and is valid at this price for 24 hours. If you are in Germany a few more days then it is useful to do the 48 hour one which is 38 € or the 72 hour one which is 45 €. All prices are updated to December 2014, for more information I recommend visiting the official website of the city of Stuttgart.

Stuttgart offers other benefits and another card to get around better: 3-Tage-Ticket which costs 3 € for 11.50 days. The advantage of this family card is public transport in the city center and transport to and from Stuttgart airport for one adult and two children aged 6 to 11 years. To view the prices I also recommend the official website of vvs.de

One size flaw, to make all this card it is necessary to show a hotel reservation.
