Dublin is a city that can be easily visited on foot, the only thing you have to worry about before departure is a valid low cost solution to reach the center from the airport and vice versa: we provide you with two excellent alternatives.
Dublin it is a rather small city, if you plan to stop here and do not move further, your feet will probably be enough to get around without problems. It is another matter transfer airport - city center. In fact, the airport is not very close to the center and to get there there are two valid and low cost alternatives in my opinion. Dublin International Airport is the only one in the city and also the busiest in all of Ireland, it is therefore very important to study the route to reach the city center before landing in the magical Dublin city.
Why visit Dublin
Dublin is a real one landmark cultural, youth, historical and touristic. It is a living city in continuous growth and tension towards modernity. At the same time, it is a place full of history and interesting traditions in which to immerse yourself and fully immerse yourself in order to experience your journey with the authentic spirit of travelers.
In this city you can have fun in the clubs of the center and visit many historical and important attractions. So green light to traditional pubs where you can socialize with the locals, to more modern clubs, but also to museums, exhibitions and tours.
Dublin is often also the point of arrival and departure for those who decide to visit other areas of Ireland. It is therefore very important to understand how to get around once you arrive in this beautiful city so full of surprises.
Dublin Airport it is very comfortable and modern, you will find the WiFi connection always available and even some internet stations. Inside there is the exchange office, the ATMs to withdraw money, but also bars and clubs of various kinds: your waiting will not be boring at all! Of course there is no missing touristic office that works really well: you will be greeted with kindness by helpful and above all very prepared people.
Dublin airport - center: how to get around
1. The urban line
The choice I made in the first leg, when I was in Dublin, is the cheaper of the two solutions. This option involves taking the urban line 16a, the line that from Dublin Airport reaches Lower Rathfarnham and stops at: Parnell Square Area, O'Connell Street Area e Trinity College Area, in all cases in the center. The service is active from early morning until late evening. The cost of a single journey is that of any bus ticket since it is an urban route and the journey time is about an hour and twenty minutes: there are eight stops before reaching the end of the journey. Sure it's not a very short journey, but if you arrive at Dublin Airport early in the morning or early afternoon, it may be the most suitable type of travel for you.
2. Airlink
Another way to get to the city center from the airport is Airlink which is what I took for the return, given the most comfortable times for me. The bus, the 747, does only 3 stops: Heuston Rail Station, O'Connell St., Central Bus Station and Dublin Airport (and vice versa). The good thing is that it takes 60 minutes in total to finish the ride, the bad is that the ticket price goes up. Children naturally pay a reduced price. Here all the times of bus 747 Airlink.
Therefore a slightly more expensive alternative, but certainly faster and more functional, especially if your flight has awkward schedules.
