Since 9 to 11 November you can visit a Milan new and unknown, the Milan of assets confiscated from the mafias: a great celebration of culture that reclaims spaces that were once the fulcrum of illegal activities.
The Municipality of Milan, together with the anti-mafia association Free, opens some of the over 300 buildings confiscated from the underworld and animates them with cinema, theater and entertainment initiatives for Milanese families.
The aim of the initiative is to promote the culture of legality and show the fruits of the fight against the mafia in the financial capital of Italy. A struggle that over the years has made it possible to recover many spaces, including homes and warehouses, and transform them into houses of charity, solidarity centers, low-cost housing for needy families, housing units for communities of disabled, elderly or psychiatric patients.
During the Festival each area of Milan will host various events, ranging from activities for children, to theatrical and musical performances, documentaries, book presentations and much more. The Festival it wants to be a moment of reflection on the mafia, but also a recreational moment, to show the difference between a city in the hands of the mafia and a city in the hands of its citizens.
