Eating at the Agrigliera, San Giorgio Piacentino

I admit that of this place, theAgrigliera by Viustino 65, not even a few weeks ago I had seen a video during a renowned broadcast on Italian agriculture. Returning from Genoa after a short vacation and finding myself at Piacenza Sud, we left the motorway to head to San Giorgio Piacentino, in the countryside.

Called the farm we are lucky that a table was still free. The place was surrounded by the classic mist of the Po Valley, but the structure was truly fascinating as it was a large country house with an adjoining courtyard for the shelter of agricultural vehicles.

In the farm there is a poultry farm in the way biological, therefore respecting the times of growth of the animal, there is a small slaughterhouse and a shop.

The owner, Luciano Pigorini, has carried out many activities in his life and is a welcoming and attentive person even in conversing with customers.

Even before eating I venture to explore the structure also because it is Luciano himself who guides us. But I pause in the cellar where I observe many bottles of wine at home and some culatello in maturation, and then I pause to read the sentence above their business cards: the place where good raw materials meet good food.

The room where we eat has a large fireplace inside where you can see the grilling of your meat followed by the owner himself. The furniture is refined and nothing is left to chance. The menu is told to us by a friendly and quick to serve you. All the meat is selected from internal breeding and is certified. I do not spare myself, and in addition to a antipasto of Piacenza cold cuts I order some tagliatelle with duck and chicken sauce, as according to one sliced goose breast with cherry sauce and potato side dish. All accompanied by a glass of Gutturnio, a local red grape variety. What can I say, the lunch was truly of a level and the expense not even high to crown a weekend of vacation and relaxation. But forget the navigator ... and rely on the classic road signs.
