Lucca it is, in my opinion, one of the best preserved art cities in our country. To reinforce this affirmation it is enough to walk on the approximately 5 km of the walls that "defend" the town from the metropolitan chaos: the pedestrian itinerary is among the most intact in Europe. Within the Renaissance walls, the city boasts numerous churches (it has been nicknamed the "City of 100 Churches“), Towers (the green that overlooks the Guinigi Tower is enchanting) and squares (the peace that reigns in Piazza dell'Anfiteatro is suggestive).
If you happen to enter Lucca from one of the six doors that open into the ramparts of the city walls, count on stopping at the Cioccolateria Caniparoli, in Via San Paolino 96, a stone's throw from the town hall and the Church of San Michele in Foro.
The environment is "mignon" but very well furnished minimal style. The numerous products, all based on chocolate, are displayed in plain sight causing profound indecision during the purchase phase: from the classic chocolate bars with different percentages of cocoa to the traditional cremini, passing through spoons, buttons and delicious black and white chocolate cigars . Don't miss the spreadable cream with hazelnuts and gianduja; if you are not satisfied try to taste the Sacher Torte ...
It was proposed to include the historic center of Lucca in the UNESCO heritage list. We at Viaggi-lowcost propose to include, in addition to the historic center, also the confectionery products of the Cioccolateria Caniparoli. Seeing is believing!
