Someone asked me what the public transport in Scandinavia and especially here in Finland. We can say it without fear, here we are on another planet. Last night for example Helsinki it was under heavy snowfall and our driver had already secured us at least another 10 new centimeters of snow for the morning.
There was indeed snow, but also many snowplows in action already from 4 in the morning. Our tram, line 9, he did not overshoot even 1 minute and by 7.16 he had already arrived at our stop outside the Radisson Seaside hotel.
So today I decided to make a small variation to our #nbeFinland program here in Helsinki and I decided to take a train to the Finnish countryside which, whitewashed, is nothing short of suggestive. It is not that I wanted to test Finnish efficiency, but I have had confirmation again in this little personal excursion.
My destination was Riihimaki, a small town about a hundred kilometers from Helsinki starting at 8.06. Not even to tell it in Italy, no one would believe it. My train both outward and return left 1 minute earlier. In short, the Finns in terms of public transport are like the Japanese. Punctuality and efficiency are a matter of national pride.
Not surprisingly, the company too Finnair, as far as efficiency is concerned, it is the safest airline in the world for the fourth consecutive year and has recently celebrated its 90th year of activity.
