When I went to New York City the first time, I didn't have a big budget and honestly I didn't pay much attention to the food aspect. In the Big Apple I have no memories of memorable meals. However, there is one place that I can recommend if you like them hamburger, go from Shake Shack
This fast food has one history, in fact, was born as a hot dog kiosk in Madison Square Park. From 2004 it becomes a permanent kiosk, constantly preceded by a long line of people waiting for their turn, after which, given the great popularity, it expands and puts on various restaurants throughout NYC and also in other cities.
I have been to the Shake Shack of Midtown, at 8th Avenue 44th corner. Well, what are the peculiarities? You eat hamburgers, fries, iced cream milkshake, ice creams. Now, as I see on the site, there is also an eye for the Vegetarians, with a burger dedicated to them.
Shake Shack prides itself on the good quality of raw materials, and claims to use meat not stuffed with antibiotics and hormones; on paper the types of burgers are few, without exaggerating the typically American overlapping of taste. The meat is cooked perfectly and is really good. The fries, well, they are fries, I have not tasted the hot dog but the frozen custard, the vanilla flavored iced cream was absolutely divine and this is also the reason why the use of quality ingredients is certified.
Shake Shack is very busy but do not be intimidated by the crowd, everything is organized very well. How does it work? The counter is manned by very young guys who take your order, pay and give you a kind of "remote control" on which the order is stored. You choose a table, you sit down. When your remote starts to vibrate (shake) it is the signal that your food is ready, you get up and go to get it.
Simple and effective. Prices? A burger costs between 5 and 9 dollars, ice cream between $ 3 and $ 4, soft drinks between $ 2 and $ 3, depending on the format. Shake Shack also displays tons of merchandise, so you can leave the store with a souvenir of your favorite New York burger!
