suvereto, Suberetum from the Roman period, consequently Cork of which the surrounding woods are rich, was born as a small post-Lombard rural center between the XNUMXth and XNUMXth centuries. The Aldobrandeschi counts, lords of the castle, built the tower on the top of the hill and the moats around the town.
In the municipality of Suvereto it is possible to visit the Montioni Natural Park, which is part of the system of Parks of the Val di Cornia, a park characterized by a rich fauna, rare examples of typically Mediterranean flora and important monuments of Napoleonic era, a commemorative obelisk dedicated to Elisa Bonaparte is located right here.
Among the museums to visit the Doll Art Museum, a collection donated by Maria Micaelli, shows the visitor the evolution of construction techniques and the change in style that occurred over the centuries in the creation of dolls. There are exhibits of considerable historical and artistic importance, and artifacts by various contemporary artists.
Among the events one of the most important is the Palio of Suvereto, an event that takes place twice a year. The second prize, namely the Palio of the emperor.
The town of Suvereto is divided into third parties, Castle, Saint Francis e Village. Castello (black and yellow) is the right side of the town closest to the Aldobrandesca fortress, while San Francesco (red and blue) is on the left side and takes its name from the homonymous ex-convent of which the church and cloister remain. Borgo (green and yellow), on the other hand, is the outermost part of the town. The hamlets, Forni e ferriere (red-yellow), Prata (red-white), Belvedere and San Lorenzo are added to these canonical neighborhoods.
