Tacheles, the squat in Berlin

The Tacheles house, the Berlin squat was closed in October 2012, but I have been there. Here is the review of my visit.

After the fall of the Berlin Wall the Tacheles has become the most popular building for culture and the underground world. In Hebrew Tacheles means speak clearly and this building was occupied by young artists immediately after the fall of the Second World War.

Here i young artists they get together to create and sell their creations. They are found real art workshops where you can see the artists at work or you can buy prints, paintings, works of art, t-shirts but also handicrafts, earrings and much more.

The house can be visited by everyone and it is open 24 hours a day, you can take pictures outside the premises where the artists work. Then there is one common space outside where they are continually created installations by Berlin artists.

In Years' 90 some artists decided to buy this building because they wanted to be transformed into a luxury place and many decided that it was not the right thing. The artists decided and committed themselves to contribute to the conservation and restructuring even if today this occupation is declared illegal. In Official site you can do one donation to contribute to the conservation of the structure.
