Sunday 29 December 2013 the historic center of San Leo hosts the market exhibition dedicated to antiques and vintage collectibles. The Market of the Fortress is a highly anticipated event by antiques and modern art lovers who can find here precious objects to add to their collection.
After the appointment of 30 September that attracted a San Leo numerous visitors, the charming village in the province of Rimini is preparing to host the famous market for the second time in 2012. Throughout the day of December 30th, from hours to 9 18.30, crossing the streets of the center you can walk alongside the over fifty stalls where exhibitors from Romagna, from the neighboring Marche and Tuscany, and from Umbria, will display highly sought-after period objects and fine modern antiques.
The Mercatino della Fortezza is an attraction not only for collectors, but also for those who want to take the opportunity to spend a Sunday outdoors walking in a wonderful historic village and browsing among the stalls distributed in the heart of San Leo. The tourist offer of the Municipality extends to the historical and cultural beauties of the town, surrounded by a wonderful natural landscape that alternates hills and plains. The Touring Club Italiano has awarded San Leo the prestigious Orange Flag, synonymous with the tourist-environmental quality of the place, and the town, being one of the "most beautiful villages in Italy", can boast another important recognition.
Symbol of San Leo is the Castle, a military architectural structure that stands at the highest point of the village and which is therefore visible and recognizable from the nearby towns. The entrance to the Renaissance Fort is open to the public and is undoubtedly worth a visit. Other historic buildings that can be visited in San Leo are the Duomo, dating back to 1173, and the parish church of S. Maria Assunta. To admire the splendid panorama that surrounds the village, San Leo offers three privileged points: the park of gazebo and Balconies by Piero della Francesca, located a few steps from the center.
The Mercatino della Fortezza can therefore represent the right opportunity not only to find and buy precious objects, but also to visit what is precious, from a historical, cultural and artistic point of view, the village that hosts the event offers.
