Tips for the most beautiful beaches in Zakynthos, Greece. Read the post and find your favorite beaches for a low cost and beautiful holiday.
THEZakynthos island, of which Ugo Foscolo spoke so poetically, can be reached by various flights from Italy, but also by ferry, disembarking in Patras and continuing by car to Killini in the Peloponnese. From Killini a comfortable ferry in about an hour will take you to the beautiful and lively capital of the island Zakynthos Town.
Obviously even in this beautiful Ionian island, perhaps less known because it is further away than the others, the beaches are all breathtaking and you will be spoiled for choice, just understand how your preferences are oriented: sand, rocks, pebbles, in any case the sea will not disappoint you.
We come to a non-exhaustive list of those beaches which I liked the most.
Navagio
It is certainly an internationally known beach for its beauty, for thenatural environment in which it is located and obviously for the wreck deposited on the beach: it belonged to smugglers who were shipwrecked on the island in 1983. It can only be reached by sea, so you will have to rely on agencies or fishermen who will take you to this wonderful place. I advise you to go there early, reaching Porto Vromi by car and from there some boats will take you directly to the beach. Go there when there is little wind so you can enjoy the blue of the sea, it seems that someone has thrown some chlorine.
Porto Roxa
It is located in the west of the island and is a real one fiord, so it is not equipped, although there are sunbeds offered by the tavern and beach bar on site, but it will be great jump off the diving board positioned directly overhanging the rock. Obviously, being a natural inlet, the sea is calm even with the wind.
Banana Beach
And 'the longest beach on the island, obviously equipped and with the possibility of playing numerous water sports, with golden sand, particularly suitable for families but also for children looking for fun.
Kerì
Located south of the island of Zakynthos, it is truly magnificent, equipped but also offers free beach spaces. The beach is pebbly but the seabed is sandy, with clean water a thousand shades of blue. Behind a pretty promenade made up of excellent taverns and particularly popular for day trips that lead toMarathonissi island, an island with the typical shape of a turtle, to the Kerì caves and in search of the turtles that populate the area, I've seen them!
Porto Limnionas
Another cute one fiord, even more beautiful than Porto Roxa, with clean water and to tell the truth cold, with the possibility of spreading the towel only on the rocks. Behind him one nice tavern with a breathtaking view of the sea and the surrounding nature, serving fresh and delicious fish.
Xigia
Small and poorly equipped beach on the north-eastern side of the island, mainly of sand mixed with pebbles and close to a sulfur spring that gives off an intense odor, but particularly suitable for it snorkeling.
Makris Gialos
Close to Xigia beach, but equipped, quiet compared to other much more popular beaches and with aenviable water and suitable for snorkeling.
