Trans-Siberian of Italy between Abruzzo and a little bit of Molise, here's how to travel through Italy in a slow way, how to get to know incredible areas of our beautiful country, by train during an adventurous journey of the past.
All travelers know the big one well Trans-Siberian railway, which with its aura of charm and magic, is the dream of every person looking for adventure in the east of the world.
Few, however, know of another masterpiece of railway engineering, this time all Italian: it is the Trans-Siberian of Italy and in the last few months, there have been many initiatives aimed at promoting it.
In reality we should speak of "Trans-Siberian of Italy", or rather historical railway lines, which have been closed for decades, but which have great tourist potential for the villages and landscapes they cross. In this sense, in the month of April the Mibact together with the Italian State Railways Foundation, decided to focus a lot on this way slow and alternative of traveling and getting to know a minor Italy. There are four routes in particular Trans-Siberian of Italy:
- Tuscany, through the Crete Senesi with the Val d'Orcia railway;
- Lombardy, along Lake Iseo with the Lake Railway;
- Abruzzo, through the Apennine woods and the landscapes of the Majella with the Park Railway;
- Sicily with Railway of the Valley of the Temples, through the World Heritage Sites.
Especially active is the Abruzzo line, which already has numerous trips planned. There Park Railway it is particularly interesting because it crosses inland Abruzzo, the less known one, made up of ancient villages, wild and fascinating natural landscapes, in which nature and man come together in a harmonious coexistence.
Thus, travelers who like to embark on an adventure and travel this ancient railway section, have the opportunity to know countries such as Palena, Roccaraso, Campo di Giove, Scontrone and Castel di Sangro, Alfedena and Barrea that touch the border with the Molise.
A slow way of traveling, which allows you to discover these corners of Italy far from the tourist routes, and which still maintain the peculiar characteristics of rural life. These are places where you can rediscover the value of time, a walk in company, the square as a meeting place, all surrounded by the spectacular landscapes of the Gran Sasso and Majella.
Travel aboard a vintage train it means identifying oneself with the history of the territories crossed, savoring an alternative way of traveling and above all, rediscovering a more "human" and social dimension with the new travel companions who meet each time.
