Always go to quality clubs. We are in Mumbai and it is advisable to eat in clean places with high quality standards to avoid unpleasant surprises.
THEIndia it has definitely more affordable prices for us Europeans. So avoiding eating street food avoids intestinal problems, because our body has to get used to other spices and Indian cuisine in general a little at a time. Don't risk going in the dark and take advantage of the few days available by opting for the right places. Mumbai is very similar to New York in terms of international cuisine, so they can satisfy all palates.
The following are my suggestions. Having lived here for months I have learned to appreciate the local cuisine and beyond.
Trishna
Ottimo seafood restaurant, located in Kala Ghoda, not far from Mumbai's most famous tourist attraction: the Gate of India. Extremely recommended for crustaceans: the crab with garlic and butter it's the specialty, so don't visit this place and forget to taste it! You won't have any problems because the fish is fresh, the service is very good. You can also order local wine to try. Being in high demand, it is preferable to book.
Flamboyante
For a dip in Indian cuisine. Definitely the best in town. It is located at the World Trade Center in Khyber in Kala Ghoda, so definitely close to one of the hotels you are staying at. Not far from the Gate of India. It offers great buffets, unlimited on Sundays and every day at reasonable prices, ranging from 9 euros to a maximum of 13 euros per person. A la carte, the prices are just as affordable. Recommended dish: From the sultan, tandoori bread and Lucknow dahi kebab.
Thacker and Bhagat Tarachand
One of the best vegetarian restaurants in the city. Very crowded because it is appreciated by both locals and tourists. By Marine Lines, easily accessible by taxi. The ideal would be to go to this delightful place with family or friends on Sunday for lunch. You can taste good Thali and dal with tadka.
Pizza meter
For those who cannot do without to eat Italian food even abroad here is the restaurant that lives up to your expectations! I often go there when I feel nostalgic for Neapolitan pizza because here the chef, Italian, makes the best pizza in Mumbai! The style is the Neapolitan one, therefore crostone a little thicker but extremely soft. The first courses are also excellent, the homemade bread and desserts, typically Italian! It is located in Bandra West, an area full of night clubs and very popular with Bollywood celebrities.
Royal China
For lovers of Chinese cooking you must try this restaurant both in the Bandra west area and in Fort, south Mumbai. Recommended dishes: Kung Pao Prawn in hot sauce and Dim Sum. You eat an authentic Cantonese meal. Better to book on the weekend. Cozy, delightful and very sophisticated environment. Everything is studied in detail and the service is impeccable.
