When traveling, you always try to feel a little at home in the various places you stay. To Udaipur we were very lucky indeed. In addition to finding a well-kept Guest house we were greeted by really loving staff, almost a family. For this and other reasons I absolutely recommend you to stay at Hari Niwas Guest House in Udaipur, should you find yourself in those parts.
Where it is
We are in Udaipur, precisely in Southern Rajasthan. This fairytale-like city is known as the Venice of the East. Framed by the Aravalli mountains and overlooking the Pichola Lake it is truly a magical place. If you then add a fantastic castle like that of fairy tales, Udaipur really represents a place to spend a few days pleasantly.
And to pass it to the best here is that Hari Niwas Guest House is just the ideal accommodation. Located in the city center a stone's throw from the main places of interest. Obviously, among these, the splendid palace that represents the main attraction of Udaipur cannot be missed. Considering that the center is a pedestrian areaand, or almost, the guest house is an excellent starting point to get lost in the narrow streets and immerse yourself in the chaos of India.
Rooms
It is a small Guest House but with attention to every detail. The six rooms, located on three levels, are spacious and very clean. They are all equipped with a fan or air conditioning. I would say a great thing if you don't want to die from the heat on the hottest days.
The bathrooms are impeccable and equipped with towels and shower sets. All rooms are decorated with beautiful paintings which are also found outside.
The ground floor rooms have a small atrium with chairs and a table. At the exit of those on the second, however, there is a beautiful balcony furnished with comfortable cushions where you can enjoy the city life from above but without being in the din. Instead, the last ones on the second floor overlook a splendid terrace from which it is possible to admire the splendid building.
Services
Run by two sisters who really know how to make you feel at home. Always very available and ready to help you and meet every need. Upon arrival at the Guest House they will offer you a welcome drink and more. They brought us tea and biscuits and a typical Indian dessert.
The Guest House offers bed and breakfast. For dinner there are no problems, as the area is full of very nice and cheap places and the girls will be happy to recommend the ideal place. The breakfast, prepared on the terrace, includes: fresh fruit, slices of toast with butter and jam and an Indian specialty, which can be sweet or salty according to the taste of our hosts. It is served from 8.00 but if you need it they are willing to prepare it in advance.
Wifi works both in the rooms and in the common areas.
Do you need a map or some explanation to visit Udaipur? No problem, they are fully equipped and will provide you with a map and give you information on what to see and how to reach the main attractions.
What can I say, I hope I have convinced you to stay in this peaceful place, where you can experience India but in complete tranquility!
