10 days in Thailand: 4 unmissable stops

We pass by metropolis of Bangkok to the rural centers of Central Thailand, from huge shopping malls to floating markets. From the city to the jungle, until you get to beautiful beaches surrounded by palm trees but alas often surrounded by a disproportionate building development.

10 days in Thailand, the stages of my tour

Today I will tell you about my personal experience of 10 days in Thailand, in the month of July.

Leaving from Spain to Bangkok, I spent a few days in the capital and then moved to the central regions in Kanchanaburi, Ayutthaya and then to the island of Koh Samui.

First stop: Bangkok

Bangkok must be seen to be able to judge it. And I have often noticed that people have no half measures in doing so. You hate it or love it.
I, guess what, I love it! It's a giant and chaotic city, full of strong smells, of people, cars, mopeds and crazy tuc tuc.

10 days in Thailand: 4 unmissable stops

Very tall buildings, markets at every corner, temples, the river that crosses it and that marks its life. It's a real mess, but I find it irresistible.
Even if there are efficient public transport and taxis are very cheap, I recommend that you visit it on foot, to better perceive its personality and observe it more closely.

The temples of Bangkok

Don't miss the Royal Palace of Bangkok and next to it three of the most important temples of the city: the temple of Emerald Buddha, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha and the Temple of the Golden Buddha.

Another temple worth seeing is the Wat Sa Ket, which rises on the Golden Mountain. From here you can enjoy a 360 degree view of the city.
If you are a market lover, get ready to leave your heart and wallet in Bangkok.

The markets of Bangkok

Al Khlong Lat Mayom floating market, about 20 minutes from the city, the trade takes place on boats and on the banks of the canals. In addition to shopping, you can try many varieties of street food, for which Thailand is very famous.

Colorful is the Pak Khlong Talat Flower Market and also very suggestive Asiatique night market, which can be reached by free boat from the Saphan Taksin skytrain stop.
Finally, if you are in Bangkok on the weekend, do not miss the mammoth market of Chatuchak, one of the largest in Thailand.

Second stop: Kanchanaburi

Entering towards the central area of Thailand, I reached Kanchanaburi.
A very sad moment in history is recalled by the war cemetery and from bridge over the River Kwai, to which a famous 1957 film was dedicated.
Built during the Second World War, it was the cause of many deaths due to the unacceptable working conditions of thousands of workers.

10 days in Thailand: 4 unmissable stops

I found the baby adorable Tam Krasae station, where the train to Nam Tok passes. The tracks are overlooking the river and on the right there is a cave with a Buddha inside.
Make a stop also at Memorial Pass Hellfire, a cut in the mountain dug by prisoners of war for the passage of a railroad track, today it has become a memorial.

Third stop: Ayutthaya

Ayutthaya was once the capital of Thailand.
Il Ayutthaya historical park it is now a Unesco heritage site and preserves the ruins of the ancient city destroyed by the Burmese.

Outside the complex, there are two other interesting temples: the Wat Phanan Choeng e Wat Yay Chai Mongkhon.

Fourth stop: Koh Samui

To conclude my 10-day itinerary in Thailand, I chose to spend the last few days at the seaside.
From Bangkok I took a domestic flight to the island of Koh Samui, in the Gulf of Siam.

10 days in Thailand: 4 unmissable stops

Here the beaches are sandy and the sea is clear with shallow, warm water. If you like nightlife and entertainment, the ideal is the Chaweng beach. Alternatively, the beaches of Bophut e Lamai they are quieter.

From here I recommend a day trip to the wonderful Ang Thong Marine Park.
