London's Notting Hill Carnival is one of the most colorful events in the city and returns every year on the last weekend in August. A Caribbean holiday imported since the 60s.
Il Notting Hill Carnival is held in London since 1965 when immigrants from the Caribbean islands felt the need to bring some of their warmth to the great city of London. But what is this carnival? An event that every year in London colors and makes the whole city dance, an event that offers Londoners and tourists the opportunity to have fun, disguising themselves, even well beyond the days of the classic carnival, but in August.
Every year thelast weekend of August the London district of Notting Hill dresses up and a thousand colors invade the streets of the magical district. Unbridled dances and processions that follow one another for the two days of celebration with many tournaments and competitions between the competing teams. The best idea, if you want to go too, is to be accompanied by local people, or by Italian friends who have moved to London. They will certainly know the right party times even beyond the official parade.
The largest Caribbean carnival in the world, obviously after the one in Rio de Janeiro, in 2014 it is celebrated since 24 25 to August. The party has no entrance fee, you just need to be near London and jump into the fray. An interesting and fun way to discover some customs of a city that always seems to have very few as it is always current.
The Notting Hill Carnival party is a time of great fun as well as for the colors and music also for the foods and flavors. The kiosks found throughout the streets offer different types of meals, menus and of course Caribbean food for one mix of culture and tradition in the city of London.
