Changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace is a process involving a new guard swapping his turn with an old guard. The Queen's Guard is commanded by a captain (who usually holds the rank of Major), and each detachment is commanded by a lieutenant. The delivery is accompanied by a band, the music played ranges from traditional military marches to pieces of films and musicals e pop songs, even family members.
When the queen is present, there are four sentries at the front of the building. When he is away there are only two.
Al Windsor Castle, the ceremony takes place at 11. At Horse Guards Arch, the changing of the guard takes place every day at 11 am (10.00 am on Sundays) and lasts about half an hour, usually taking place on Horse Guards Parade for the arch of the Horse Guards Palace.
