The Gellert thermal baths are located inside the homonymous Hotel Gellert, which is located in Buda, right in front is the Liberty Bridge, crossing it you will arrive at the beautiful covered market and the beginning of the famous and historic Vaci U.
Getting to the Gellert Thermal Baths is very easy. If you want to go there in the evening or in the late afternoon, you can take advantage in the afternoon to take a nice ride in Buda Castle or in the Citadel, to see the beautiful sunset over the Danube which lights up the Parliament and the Chain Bridge, one of the most beautiful bridges in Budapest.
After this tour, descending again on the road that runs alongside the Danube, you can take one of the two trams leading to the Hotel Gellert. You only have to wait for one stop and get off at the second. You will find yourself directly in front of the Hotel Gellert, turning to the right of the building, you will find the entrance to the bathrooms.
Compared to the Széchenyi Baths, the Gellert Baths are more expensive, but also offer more rooms and bathrooms. At the entrance you have to choose whether to take theentrance together with the cabin to change or together with the safety deposit box only. If you are two, I recommend that you take only one cabin, you can leave everything there without even taking the safety deposit box.
The cost of an entrance with a safe on any of the days of the week is 16.30 € then 4900 Hungarian forints, while during the weekend it is 17 €. The cost of an entrance with the cabin to change during the week is € 17.60, while at the weekend it is 18.30.
The entrance fee for children is a little less than for adults and you can stay inside the Gellert Thermal Baths for about 2 hours. The nice thing about this center is that there is a very large space for those who want to have massages and the type of massage offered is also very different.
In the Gellert Baths there are 12 tanks even if in winter those outside are unfortunately not accessible. In addition, the internal bathrooms are all decorated with really beautiful mosaics and marble columns. You will feel completely relaxed thanks to the surrounding environment.
I hydromassage baths they consist of a large tub with 27 degrees and a smaller thermal tub of 36 degrees where you can sit. In the spa departments there are 8 thermal baths with water temperature between 21 and 40 degrees (40 degrees is a pleasure!). Finally in the outside there is a 26-degree wave pool, a hydro-jet tub and 36-degree whirlpools.
The Gellert thermal bath and the hotel were opened in 1918.
